Accelerated Degree Completion
Application Requirements

.
What do I need to submit with my application?

The enrollment process is easy. In addition to the online application, you will be required to provide official copies of previous college transcripts, two recommendation forms, and a personal statement.

When are applications due?

The accelerated degree completion program uses a rolling admission format, accepting applications throughout the year. With optional program start dates throughout the year you are provided great flexibility in deciding when to enroll.

Are there age and work experience restrictions for entrance into the program?

You must have at least two years of full-time work experience within a professional setting and at least 50 prior college credits to enroll. Most students will be at least 22-years-old, but younger students can be enrolled if they meet both the work experience and minimum credit requirements. The accelerated degree completion program will accept a maximum of 80 transfer credits.

Will all of my previous college credits transfer?

After you have applied for admission and have arranged for your college transcripts to be sent to WLC, your personal enrollment advisor and registrar will evaluate your transcripts to determine which credits will transfer. Classes must be completed with a “C” or better for it to be considered for transfer credit.

How will students be notified of admittance?

You will be notified by phone, e-mail, and a letter when you have been accepted into the accelerated degree completion program.

Will I receive college credit for what I have learned through my work experiences?

You may earn up to 30 semester hours of life learning credits by demonstrating competencies developed through prior work and life experiences. Competencies can be demonstrated through a variety of tests or through development of a portfolio. Up to 15 semester hours may be achieved through a portfolio. The portfolio process involves an online course facilitated by the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL).

During the course you develop a portfolio to demonstrate prior learning from life and work experiences. At the end of the course, you submit your portfolio to a trained assessor. Portfolio credits are awarded on a transcript from the American Council on Education (ACE). Your personal enrollment advisor can assist and advise you in the portfolio and credit review process.
