The Master of Arts in Education with a specialty in Science Instruction offers a unique blend of online courses that integrate the MA-Ed foundation with the Science Instruction track and a practical research project designed to enhance the academic experiences of K-12 learners.

The 36 credit degree program can be completed in less than 30 months by taking one course every eight weeks. The program culminates with a two-semester action research project and creation of a portfolio.

Science Instruction:

This MA-Ed specialty provides an appropriate degree for preschool, elementary, middle, and secondary teachers who currently teach science, but desire to expand and update their science knowledge and skills. The focus of the program is on the four major strands of science: biology, chemistry, earth science, and physical science as presented from a Christian worldview. The curriculum focuses the learner on scientific inquiry to foster the academic achievement of diverse learners within the context of a Christian world-view.

The MA-Ed in Science Instruction enhances cognitive, analytical, and reflective thinking skills through the application of education theory, psychological principles, and best practice in science instruction in an action research capstone experience. Additional technological applications and leadership opportunities are integrated throughout the program and in a required practicum. Those students seeking initial teacher certification may need to complete additional coursework to meet state licensure requirements.
