Why Should You Earn Your Teaching Degree from WLC?

W.B. Yeats said that “Education is not the filling of a pot but the lighting of a fire” and as you take the steps to earn your teaching certification, finding a school that teaches how to light that fire within your students is essential. Teachers do more than just educate students. They play a major role in children’s lives, no matter if they’re in preschool or high school. Having a strong relationship with your students can impact the students by improving their academic performance and reducing chronic absenteeism, and can be the support the students need in their lives.  WLC teaches you how to be that role model for your students while providing you with an affordable, flexible education. You can choose from a variety of disciplines and learn everything you need to know from our caring and experienced professors and faculty.

Affordable Tuition

Wisconsin Lutheran College makes an effort to keep its education affordable. In fact, WLC made Washington Monthly’s 2021 list of America’s Best Bang for the Buck Colleges. At just $560 per credit hour, WLC’s cost is at the lower end of the spectrum for private universities and competes with many public universities’ in-state tuition.

Hybrid Environment

WLC’s teaching program offers classes in 8-week sessions with 6 classes offered on campus and 6 classes offered online. Rather than attending a fully online program where you don’t have direct face-to-face contact with instructors, in WLC’s program, you have a hybrid style.  This allows you to develop strong, in-person relationships with your professors while also giving you the ability to have classes online every so often, which allows for more flexibility in your schedule. You also have the potential to network with and grow alongside your cohort both in-person and online.

Multiple Disciplines

WLC offers four different disciplines through which students can earn their licensure and master’s degree. These include early childhood, elementary, secondary, and wide-range. For both secondary and wide-range, students are able to further specialize in a specific subject as well. For those who choose this path, there may be additional courses required. WLC ranked tenth on thebestschools.org’s list of the 30 Best Online Master’s in Secondary Education Programs, and all of our programs are highly respected within Wisconsin and the whole United States.

Caring Faculty

WLC’s faculty teaches others to become teachers because they have that fire within them. They want to ensure WLC’s students become the best teachers they can be. Our caring, Christian faculty work to build strong relationships with our students and teach them everything they need to know in order to succeed in their classrooms including strong classroom management, how to lesson plan, and how to support students.   Being a well-trained teacher is important to the livelihood of students. Well-trained teachers have a better chance of sending more students to college or university and can also raise an entire class’s lifetime income by $250,000. At WLC, our excellent faculty educates our students to be the best teachers they can be.  Earning your M.A.Ed. – Transition to Teaching degree from WLC will enable you to command a classroom. You’ll be a part of a flexible and affordable program that has a wide range of disciplines available all while being taught by top-of-the-line faculty.
